MENTORnetwork Launch

10 years can fly by! In January 2001, I began writing a business plan for a concept I called StudentPD (Professional Development).  I was in my final semester of university and saw many of my friends making career decisions that didn’t seem to align to who I’d known them to be (their values and goals).  I was convinced that there were resources and programs that could help students make more authentic career choices.  So, StudentPD was conceived to facilitate that process.

While StudentPD the business didn’t get off the ground–my inspiration to make a difference in Canadians becoming more intentional about our career and life path has continued to get stronger.   Over the past two and a half years, I’ve experienced losing my alignment to my values and goals—then getting back on track with the support of a network of mentors.  I’ve I created MENTORnetwork as a resource site to help Canadians understand the value of mentorship; and provide access to tools and advice to help build mentorships.

As I launch this new site, I want to specially recognize Gary Prenevost who’s gone above and beyond as a mentor to me; and helped inspire my vision for MENTORnetwork.

    ‘Blind-spot’ Mentors! I love it.

We call them psychological scotomas. They are coping mechanisms disguised as market strengths – the things entrepreneurs get paid great sums of money and accolades for leveraging. Others see them as personality disorders which we insist are ‘fine’.

Jeremy, I found your site through an article Motivated Magazine. I look forward to exploring our shared passion for mentoring.
